Tehran General Hospital warmly welcomes international patients coming for specialized medical care not readily available in their home country. If you live outside the Islamic Republic of Iran, our International Patient Center can help you with a range of services before, during and after your visit to the hospital. Our International Patient Center provides high-quality care for all international patients and their families.

International patients Ward:

Each room on this Ward is designed to make your stay as comfortable as possible. All have an en-suite toilet and their own shower. They have a nurse call system, a remote control television, a small fridge, a safe and a direct dial telephone. Internet facilities are also available, if required.

What to bring with you:

If you are staying with us for more than a day, we advise that you bring some essential personal items with you, such as:

On Arrival:

You can enter 2nd building of Tehran General Hospital entrance between 7am and 7pm. At all other times, please enter via the 1st building of Tehran General Hospital entrance.

The receptionist or International Patients Expert will meet you when you arrive.

A welcome nurse will give you a hospital identity bracelet that has your name and other details. Please wear this at all times. It is an important part of our safety procedures; among other things it ensures that you are given the right medications.

Security:

All hospital wards have a secure access system to ensure patient safety. CCTV cameras are used on public parts of the ward for security purposes.

Catering:

Tehran Hospital has a dedicated team of chefs to cater for different cultural and dietary requirements. The menu changes daily and has a range of meals. If you require especial meals, or have food allergy please let us know. A dietician is available for advice on individual diets.

Meals are served on the ward at the following times:

Breakfast: 7.30am to 9am
Lunch: 12 noon to 1pm
Dinner: 6pm to 7pm

Room Cleaning:

All rooms are cleaned daily and we manage this so that it does not cause any inconvenience to you or your recovery.

Visitors:

Time with family members and friends improves recovery and creates a healing environment essential to a patient's and well-being.

We actively encourage visitors and the involvement of careers to make your stay in hospital as comfortable as possible. However, other patients may be resting or sleeping, so please ask your visitors to be considerate. For this reason we recommend no more than three visitors at any one time.

Visits may sometimes be restricted, for example, if there is a risk of infection.

  1. General visiting hours at Tehran Hospital are between 15:00 P.M. – 17:00 P.M.
  2. For Special Wards (ICU/CCU), visiting hours is between 16:00 P.M. – 17:00 P.M.

Notice:

  1. Smoking is prohibited in the hospital and patient's room.
  2. Children under 12 years old are prohibited to entry to the hospital.

Do not visit a patient if you:

  1. Are sick;
  2. Have a cough;
  3. Have a fever or the flu;
  4. Are feeling sick to your stomach, are vomiting, or having diarrhea;

When visiting a patient in isolation:

  1. Check with the nursing station first;
  2. Follow the instructions posted on the door;
  3. Wear personal protective equipment.

Planning for returning home

The nursing team will work with you to plan the day on which you will leave and arrange any care needed afterwards.

Please try to arrange for someone to accompany you on the day of your discharge. Remind them to bring your outdoor clothing on the evening before departure, unless you already have something suitable with you.

If you need a taxi or transfer to your transport by wheelchair, we will be happy to arrange this for you.

You can usually expect to leave by 1:00pm on the day of departure.
